00:00:38:05 - 00:00:47:00
Chris
Well, hello, everybody, and welcome to the one year anniversary of the Chris and Amanda Show.

00:00:48:20 - 00:00:52:19
Amanda
So well that our we do not skimp on the sound effects here.

00:00:52:19 - 00:00:57:23
Chris
So no very high tech, very high end sound effects, high dollar.

00:00:58:17 - 00:01:00:04
Amanda
It just comes naturally for us.

00:01:00:15 - 00:01:04:23
Chris
Right. This is where all your your hard earned money is spent on those studying sound effects.

00:01:05:12 - 00:01:07:26
Amanda
Happy one year anniversary. Chris Vaglio

00:01:07:29 - 00:01:24:10
Chris
Yes, happy one year anniversary. Amanda Sharp. We made it through one year of podcast thing doing this show, switching platforms, tons of experimenting. Here we are one year later, still doing what we love doing.

00:01:24:19 - 00:01:33:28
Amanda
Absolutely. And I don't know if our listeners know the statistics within the podcasting world, but they are not very encouraging.

00:01:34:15 - 00:01:35:14
Chris
They're not favorable.

00:01:35:25 - 00:02:00:29
Amanda
They're not. The odds are not in your favor when you start a podcast and for a podcast to reach a year old where we consistently have put out new content for us, live content every single week, that is not normal. So well done to us, Chris. Well done. To our listeners for encouraging us to keep on going, because without our listeners, I mean, we probably still way there because we like it.

00:02:00:29 - 00:02:02:07
Amanda
But it's funny with friends.

00:02:03:08 - 00:02:27:18
Chris
Yes, it is much more funny with friends for sure. And I'm really excited. I you know, we were thinking about what can we do for today's show to celebrate and literally the simplest idea was let's look back at episode one, right? So episode one, are we a little baby Chris and a man? The show had gotten together. We literally had maybe like one week of prep that we did before.

00:02:27:18 - 00:02:33:14
Chris
We just did the show. I mean, we just jumped we jumped in like with, but it was crazy.

00:02:33:23 - 00:02:53:15
Amanda
No, no regrets. No, we we did not plan. We just planned to start and we didn't. And I think that when you have two people who have the chemistry together, such as you and I, according to our parents, we were voted number one that's right.

00:02:53:15 - 00:02:57:00
Chris
Our parents voted us most what number one show to listen to.

00:02:58:02 - 00:03:07:17
Amanda
And we're a conversation based show. So to our defense, there wasn't a whole lot of planning that needed to go into it. But, you know, we did just dove right into it.

00:03:08:12 - 00:03:28:24
Chris
Though. We did. I much like you. I did. I listened to our very first episode again, just to hear, you know, how much we've grown and for as a show. And, you know, it's not we're not too far off from that first episode, maybe just a little bit more dialed in and a little tighter, you know, than we were.

00:03:28:24 - 00:03:47:03
Chris
But I want that like the same energy is still there. You know, the same the same goofiness and corniness that happens on the show is was still there. It was it was really fun listening back to that. And I'm like, wow, like, I really can't believe it's been a year. And, you know, we originally started the show for people who have been following us since we started.

00:03:48:18 - 00:04:03:11
Chris
You know, some of you may remember, but for those who are very new to the show for the first time, we I mean, and I started the show on a platform called Fireside, which is still out there and it's still growing. And it's a great platform. I highly urge anybody out there. You can download it and and listen to it.

00:04:03:11 - 00:04:43:17
Chris
There's a lot of great shows on there. And and it's a really cool and that's pretty much where we spent the first from April till December in 20, 21. Yeah. Doing the show exclusively live on Fireside and then republishing the show out and all the feeds. And then it was in the start of this year of 20, 22 that we decided, well you know what we wanted to, you know, spread our wings a little bit more and we, we, we made the transition to, you know, stream on Facebook and Twitch and we've even done YouTube and we do a lot of reposting and of course the audio stream which some of you may be listening

00:04:43:17 - 00:04:54:17
Chris
this to and rather than watching the video feed, but you know, we decided to expand it out. So I mean that's where the show really started and that gave us give us a great opportunity to really hone our talents.

00:04:55:16 - 00:04:56:03
Speaker 3
If we think.

00:04:56:03 - 00:04:56:25
Chris
About music.

00:04:57:27 - 00:05:21:08
Amanda
And we've had a couple times changes, right? But yes, when we first started the show, we we did a time that worked for us but also worked around the other live shows that were happening on fire site because we wanted to respect the other creators. We were some of the very first to kind of hop on that platform and then we changed it to, to, to also accommodate for some stuff.

00:05:21:08 - 00:05:23:11
Amanda
Oh, good morning, Johnny.

00:05:24:01 - 00:05:24:20
Chris
Me too.

00:05:25:13 - 00:05:44:28
Amanda
We send our love and Johnny for those who the few that don't know Johnny yeah, he's the back of the Cereal Box podcast and he got such an amazing so it's super fun. And Chris has had the pleasure of being a guest on there a couple times and you've had a blast.

00:05:45:00 - 00:05:48:03
Chris
So much fun. So much fun. Definitely check it out.

00:05:48:14 - 00:06:06:27
Amanda
It's really out. Oh, Johnny, I hope you're still listening to that. I didn't just lose you, but hey, we're doing and I have to go back and look at it because it was at the market was this weekend, so I wasn't able to like be able for media a whole lot, but they were doing jam and Jam was one of my favorite shows growing up.

00:06:06:28 - 00:06:08:03
Speaker 3
Yeah, was my name.

00:06:08:03 - 00:06:08:20
Amanda
No one else.

00:06:08:21 - 00:06:09:10
Speaker 3
Is the same.

00:06:09:19 - 00:06:11:03
Chris
The other version of The Misfits.

00:06:11:27 - 00:06:12:05
Speaker 3
Yes.

00:06:13:13 - 00:06:14:29
Chris
There was a Misfits on that show.

00:06:15:13 - 00:06:21:09
Amanda
We Are The Misfits. Oh, gosh, it was so good. So I derailed. So sorry. Thank you for the love, Johnny.

00:06:21:22 - 00:06:27:09
Chris
Yeah. And thank you, Chuck, for the happy anniversary. Appreciate you, buddy. Thank you so much. The Chuck Taylor.

00:06:27:22 - 00:06:34:13
Amanda
That Chuck Taylor, who also has a very successful podcast and he's what do we call him? You say it radio.

00:06:34:13 - 00:06:35:09
Chris
Personality.

00:06:35:12 - 00:06:36:14
Speaker 3
Thank you in.

00:06:36:14 - 00:06:38:16
Chris
The business for over 30 plus years.

00:06:38:18 - 00:06:38:28
Speaker 3
I think.

00:06:38:28 - 00:06:47:19
Amanda
It was 37 years and these have been both of these individuals huge cheerleaders for our show for many months so thankful for them.

00:06:47:27 - 00:07:03:00
Chris
Always thankful thankful for everybody who tunes in and watches live with us every Monday. And as a man who was saying yes we've had a lot of time shifts over that time you know and that's that's what doing a live show happens. You know, you got to you got to you got to move around as as you can.

00:07:03:00 - 00:07:22:13
Chris
And, you know, we've tried to make all the adjustments and try to stay as steady as possible. So, you know, for all of you that either wake up early and join us here at 8:15 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Mondays, we appreciate each and every one of you for watching live. And if you ever want to catch your show live, absolutely.

00:07:22:13 - 00:07:34:15
Chris
That's all you need to do. Of course, I know majority of people usually catch the replays of this. So are we thankful for those of you that tune in and watch the replays and of course, listen to the audio feed version of the show wherever you get podcasts?

00:07:35:11 - 00:07:54:26
Amanda
Yes. And if you're wanting to navigate our very first episode on YouTube, so you can see the video version of it that posted July 18th of 21. So that'll help kind of help you find it a little bit because it didn't we didn't start posting videos for a few months after the fact. So that is where you can find that episode.

00:07:54:26 - 00:07:59:14
Amanda
And I have to say, I feel like we, we look like babies yeah.

00:08:00:00 - 00:08:10:20
Chris
No, we did. It was crazy. It's only a year ago and I'll also too is what I'll do is for anybody that wants to watch that first episode, I'll be in the show notes and video description for this as well. So you'll be able to click the link.

00:08:10:21 - 00:08:11:10
Amanda
For that TV.

00:08:11:10 - 00:08:30:11
Chris
And check out the first episode. Also, you know, on the audio feed too. You can find it there. Just go back to we the we year of 2021. So Amanda, when we officially did our first episode, the date was April 26, 2021.

00:08:31:17 - 00:08:35:10
Amanda
April 26. That's very, very, very first episode.

00:08:35:14 - 00:08:44:12
Chris
That's what it says. I know on Fireside it says the 23rd and I see on our Instagram post, it says the 26th. So there's, there could be some discrepancies.

00:08:45:00 - 00:08:46:25
Amanda
Well it's this week regardless.

00:08:47:18 - 00:08:48:00
Speaker 3
I was not.

00:08:48:00 - 00:08:53:15
Amanda
Disappointed first three weeks. Some people have birthday months. We have anniversary week.

00:08:53:20 - 00:09:15:04
Chris
That's right. We have an anniversary weeks for sure. So we so we decided as I said at the top, we decided to go back and look at that first episode and re review and recreate those songs. That we gave to each other originally to see if those ratings hold up. Did they get better over time? Did they stay the same.

00:09:15:15 - 00:09:16:16
Speaker 3
Or.

00:09:16:24 - 00:09:27:11
Chris
Did they get worse? Has the songs have they held up? That's the question here that we're going to answer on this episode of The Kristin Amanda Show.

00:09:28:12 - 00:09:29:06
Amanda
Friends. Yes.

00:09:29:28 - 00:09:53:10
Chris
So the three songs I originally sent to you, Amanda. Well, I guess I guess we do this every week. We assume the audience knows what the show's about, so how how silly of me to bypass that fact. So this is your first time ever listening to the Kristin Amanda Show, and you just happened to land on our show anniversary.

00:09:53:10 - 00:10:05:08
Chris
Well, thank you so much for celebrating our anniversary with us, but you may not know what this is all about. So I'm going to throw it over to Amanda Sharp and she's going to quickly explain to you how the show works. Amanda Sharp, take it.

00:10:05:08 - 00:10:05:13
Speaker 3
Away.

00:10:06:29 - 00:10:15:15
Amanda
To reference our first show. I said, Chris is way over here musically. I'm way over here. I said, so far apart, you can't even see it in the same stream.

00:10:17:26 - 00:10:46:20
Amanda
Stuff that comes out of my mouth but with that being said, Chris gives me three songs that most likely I have not heard before. Or maybe like I do the same to him. Mine are more countries sometimes than Christian in their eighties. He's that star, that heavy metal he saw. So we fought each other three songs every single week, and we write them for each other on a sliding scale of one to five records.

00:10:46:29 - 00:10:57:29
Amanda
And I stand corrected. I have been saying for the last year that I don't think we've had any one record and I. I'm a liar. I'm a liar.

00:10:58:06 - 00:10:59:08
Chris
You are a liar.

00:10:59:19 - 00:11:03:08
Amanda
I had forgotten Johnny. Do you not know Scott?

00:11:03:15 - 00:11:04:11
Chris
I think he does.

00:11:04:20 - 00:11:05:17
Amanda
Oh, is he even?

00:11:05:20 - 00:11:13:04
Chris
I don't know. But I think I would think Johnny knows what guys I know as of was this episode that Amanda discovered with Scott was.

00:11:13:27 - 00:11:14:08
Amanda
Scott.

00:11:14:16 - 00:11:21:02
Chris
This very episode? Well, a year ago, Amanda discovered what Scott was pretty much.

00:11:21:22 - 00:11:24:16
Amanda
Why don't you give a definition of Star Trek?

00:11:24:19 - 00:11:25:15
Chris
Oh, boy.

00:11:26:06 - 00:11:28:03
Speaker 3
So we see things again.

00:11:28:09 - 00:11:52:13
Chris
So Scott is nothing new. It's been around for quite some time, and it's basically like if you take a form of reggae music and really speed it up. So it's really much more in the up tempo of reggae. Whereas reggae is like the skies like that. They take their content into the content they like. It's much more upbeat usually a lot more horns are involved, different things.

00:11:52:13 - 00:12:07:15
Chris
So it's a little bit more upbeat and it's but different versions of Scott over the years, over the generations, you know, the two tone sky was the big thing and and that lasted for a while. So you had a lot of you had a lot of English bands and you also had a lot of traditional Scott that came out of the islands and all that.

00:12:07:15 - 00:12:18:18
Chris
And and then now it's just progressed and then you had punk and Scott joined, so you had a punk Scott thing. And now we're into like this new wave kind of Scott this new generation. Scarlet's out there now.

00:12:18:18 - 00:12:21:00
Amanda
So so many levels of ska.

00:12:21:06 - 00:12:26:21
Chris
Lots of levels of ska and Johnny saying, I love ska. So I knew, I knew he was a sky guy.

00:12:26:21 - 00:12:35:21
Amanda
Kind of like I had no idea like how many levels of poor there were. There's calm corps there. There's a lot of core. I mean, easy core. No, I mean, you.

00:12:35:21 - 00:12:37:24
Chris
Know, you make a easy you may have calm, cool.

00:12:37:24 - 00:12:38:22
Speaker 3
Core. Yeah.

00:12:40:18 - 00:13:00:08
Amanda
Oh, so Johnny discoloration of smooth criminal. Criminal. Yes. Oh, and just played for me. He says, mom, let me get you a good song to go to work too. And he turned this on for me before he got out of the car to go to school. My drive is like 2 seconds from school to work I did listen to the whole thing, though.

00:13:00:08 - 00:13:04:28
Amanda
This was just last week, so that's so funny that you reference that. So I actually know what song you're referencing.

00:13:06:02 - 00:13:29:12
Chris
Somebody I had, I was listening to a podcast, actually. I think it's the the punk rock MBA podcast, Jeff and Mackenzie, and he's not a fan of ska, but he had a great line. I laughed so hard because he makes fun of Scott a lot, which is how he just does it so well. But he said he pictures said Sky music is the type of music that plays when an eight year old boy orders mozzarella sticks from T.G.I. Fridays.

00:13:29:12 - 00:13:31:00
Chris
That's the music that's playing in his head.

00:13:32:06 - 00:13:33:14
Speaker 3
I thought that was so great.

00:13:33:19 - 00:13:34:01
Chris
Yeah.

00:13:34:15 - 00:13:34:27
Speaker 3
I'm like.

00:13:34:28 - 00:13:42:02
Chris
I kind of agree with that. When I see mozzarella sticks, I think I hear sky music that's fantasy.

00:13:42:02 - 00:13:45:25
Amanda
I can understand what goes through an eight year old boy's head.

00:13:46:02 - 00:13:46:07
Speaker 3
Yeah.

00:13:47:11 - 00:13:50:18
Chris
Well, how do you feel when you see mozzarella sticks? That might be.

00:13:51:03 - 00:14:02:27
Amanda
You know, I automatically, like, go to like Italian music type thing and like when the, you know, noon, you know, the cheese goes on and there's marinara sauce. So I go there.

00:14:02:28 - 00:14:04:01
Chris
That's a more.

00:14:04:25 - 00:14:07:15
Amanda
Like The Godfather. I go straight godfather.

00:14:08:00 - 00:14:09:01
Chris
Mandolins playing.

00:14:10:20 - 00:14:11:08
Speaker 3
Yes.

00:14:11:22 - 00:14:15:01
Chris
When the moon meets the sky like a big pizza.

00:14:16:12 - 00:14:17:15
Amanda
That's where my mind goes, right?

00:14:17:15 - 00:14:22:13
Chris
That to your mind goes, OK, so you see mozzarella sticks. That's what you hear. You hear, you hear. That's a more.

00:14:22:22 - 00:14:25:03
Amanda
Yeah. I mean, it seems totally legit.

00:14:28:05 - 00:14:31:21
Chris
Chuck's trying to tell a joke, but autocorrect isn't helping them out.

00:14:31:21 - 00:14:34:26
Amanda
Here. I was like, hardcore, hardcore. I just think of Eagles.

00:14:34:26 - 00:14:40:00
Chris
There's also Parkhurst, but he meant to say parkour. So like you were saying, all the different versions of Core.

00:14:41:13 - 00:14:55:19
Amanda
And I would have thought I totally would have been able to be like, thought that Park First would have been the right thing for eight months. Realistic? No. But I do think at the scene when they're at the restaurant and Michael goes to the bathroom, could have.

00:14:55:19 - 00:15:01:06
Speaker 3
Gotten my mind goes real deep. It looks great.

00:15:01:12 - 00:15:02:16
Chris
I love you. Amanda Sharp.

00:15:04:16 - 00:15:09:25
Amanda
There's you. My mind thinks a lot of things very quickly.

00:15:10:08 - 00:15:12:22
Chris
About the mind of Amanda Sharp.

00:15:15:20 - 00:15:22:26
Chris
All right. So we're 15 minutes into the show and we've done we've done nothing but laugh and giggle at our own jokes. So we are.

00:15:23:11 - 00:15:25:23
Amanda
Very odd brand for us.

00:15:25:23 - 00:15:37:14
Chris
Very odd brand for us. So welcome to the Chris that I've had to show everybody. This is what it's like. So all right so let's let's get into this is our first anniversary show. It's a party. So we're we're very excited. Yeah, yeah.

00:15:37:25 - 00:15:38:01
Speaker 3
Yeah.

00:15:39:06 - 00:15:50:19
Chris
And Johnny, once again, just just to put the pin in the material it sticks conversation for some reason, I suspect what's really stakes are uniquely American invention. Yes. Call me crazy.

00:15:50:28 - 00:15:51:03
Speaker 3
Right?

00:15:51:15 - 00:15:58:09
Amanda
I feel like this is Apple Woo. Great content for some future real. So watch out for those fans.

00:15:58:21 - 00:16:04:15
Chris
It's got music and mozzarella sticks. Aw, that's amore. And why do you make the choice?

00:16:04:15 - 00:16:06:11
Amanda
You make the hard choice. Yeah.

00:16:07:06 - 00:16:10:07
Chris
What music plays in your head when you see mozzarella sticks?

00:16:11:13 - 00:16:12:02
Speaker 3
What's the theme.

00:16:12:12 - 00:16:14:27
Chris
From what Sara was OK.

00:16:14:27 - 00:16:15:08
Speaker 3
All right.

00:16:15:25 - 00:16:16:19
Chris
So here we go.

00:16:17:08 - 00:16:17:18
Amanda
All right.

00:16:18:05 - 00:16:31:25
Chris
Here are the three songs I gave you for the very first episode of the Chris and Amanda Show one year ago today that I launched right out of the gate with you. Did you see this? Was that this was the test?

00:16:31:29 - 00:16:32:12
Speaker 3
Yes.

00:16:32:14 - 00:16:47:23
Chris
This was a test. All right. So I gave you make me a mix tape by the promise ring sound system by Operation Ivy and Rose of Sharon by Killswitch Engage, which you had a hard time pronouncing, if I remember correctly.

00:16:48:08 - 00:16:48:22
Speaker 3
Yeah.

00:16:50:10 - 00:16:53:26
Amanda
Is this when I went into Sharon and talked about Ozzy?

00:16:53:29 - 00:17:00:17
Chris
Yes, I think so. I believe so. Yeah. You went on a whole old thing about me.

00:17:00:22 - 00:17:22:04
Amanda
Yeah, right. So, you know, that's just what happens on the show. And my songs to you for our very first episode was or were don't think twice. It's all right by Waylon Jennings, July by Noah Cyrus and Eternal Flame by the one and only old Abby channels.

00:17:24:02 - 00:17:24:09
Speaker 3
OK.

00:17:24:20 - 00:17:43:10
Chris
So quick note on The Bangles, too. So Susanna Haas just recently joined Tick-Tock so there's no better way to data podcast than saying just recently. So but she's on Tick Tock now and she's awesome. She's been like just she's like, I don't know my tick tock. I guess I'm making a tick tock. Like, it's very funny, but she wanted to do it.

00:17:43:10 - 00:17:48:21
Chris
An acoustic version of Manic Monday and Tick Tock, and I was like, Oh my God, it was so great. So the first.

00:17:48:21 - 00:17:48:28
Amanda
Lady.

00:17:49:15 - 00:18:05:23
Chris
Had like the first verse and chorus that was really cool. I was like, Oh, I could watch this. All that does that a half tick talking how is nothing but her just playing acoustic versions of of songs. Oh, man, forget it. I will now. I'll never get off. Ticktock now. All right.

00:18:06:09 - 00:18:21:23
Amanda
Speaking of tick tock a we are lovers of tick tock. And if you are on tick tock, find us the content. Amanda show and give us a follow and we'll follow you back. We love content creators. We love them. So send us your due. Send us your followers and we'll follow you right back.

00:18:21:26 - 00:18:22:11
Chris
That's right.

00:18:22:25 - 00:18:23:12
Amanda
So, Chris.

00:18:23:25 - 00:18:24:07
Chris
OK.

00:18:24:23 - 00:18:32:08
Amanda
I'm going to dove back into your Make Me a mixtape All right. The Promise Ring. We're going to talk about that one again.

00:18:32:15 - 00:18:32:29
Chris
OK.

00:18:34:11 - 00:18:35:15
Amanda
Well, my knee starting.

00:18:35:18 - 00:18:38:20
Chris
No, go ahead. You start. You start.

00:18:38:26 - 00:18:46:22
Amanda
I will start the. OK. So for those who do not listen to the original episode, I will recap that I gave it a four record rating.

00:18:47:00 - 00:18:47:21
Chris
You did?

00:18:48:09 - 00:18:56:06
Amanda
And for anyone who is looking to listen to any of these songs, you can find them on the Chris and Amanda playlist. 20, 21 playlist on Spotify.

00:18:56:10 - 00:19:00:18
Chris
And I did update them and I put them on the 2022 playlist as well.

00:19:00:21 - 00:19:02:26
Amanda
Oh, my goodness. I went to the old one and.

00:19:03:02 - 00:19:08:06
Chris
I updated that this weekend. So though these songs are now on the 2022 playlist as well.

00:19:08:12 - 00:19:11:16
Amanda
We'll look at that. So now you can have double the listening pleasure.

00:19:11:16 - 00:19:12:00
Chris
That is.

00:19:12:09 - 00:19:12:26
Speaker 3
Excellent.

00:19:13:12 - 00:19:14:19
Amanda
So it runs out.

00:19:16:08 - 00:19:17:00
Speaker 3
So I get it for.

00:19:17:00 - 00:19:21:27
Amanda
Records and when I really listen to it I said why did I give it four records.

00:19:25:03 - 00:19:26:03
Speaker 3
And the only.

00:19:26:03 - 00:19:49:22
Amanda
Thing I could think of Chris was your sound system and Rose of Sharon really were so shocking to me. That was the safest of the three, which made me give it like a four record. So moving into listening to it again with like new radio, I had heard it since then, but not like with new rating ears.

00:19:50:02 - 00:19:52:15
Chris
Right? Not with new ratings ears.

00:19:52:22 - 00:20:00:16
Amanda
Yes, new ratings year. I still really I do like the song. OK, when the vocals are not as good as I remember.

00:20:00:27 - 00:20:11:26
Chris
No, the vocals are not good at all. David is not a very good singer. This is like Midwest IMO. At its highest peak at the height of their powers. The Promise ring.

00:20:12:15 - 00:20:13:22
Speaker 3
I ask you, what.

00:20:13:22 - 00:20:28:15
Amanda
Was I thinking? This is I'm sorry. Like it was not a four record song to me anymore. So I going back to myself say Amanda, good Lord. But I think to be fair, of the three songs, it seemed the safest because you did like throw them just right into me.

00:20:29:06 - 00:20:32:25
Chris
I did. It was it was a test. There was big test right away, right out of the gate.

00:20:33:10 - 00:20:46:15
Amanda
It right out of the gate. So what originally was for I don't hate the song, but I don't love the song. I won't skip the song. But I put my rating down to a three record and I feel comfortable about a.

00:20:46:15 - 00:20:50:07
Chris
Solid three no percentage points, just a solid three.

00:20:50:19 - 00:20:51:10
Speaker 3
I would I'd.

00:20:51:12 - 00:20:53:00
Amanda
Be as generous as a 3.5.

00:20:53:11 - 00:20:56:26
Chris
OK, so it goes it's going to go down a half step, half that.

00:20:56:27 - 00:21:02:04
Amanda
Yeah. Yeah. I don't yeah, three might be a little too harsh because it's still a fun song.

00:21:02:14 - 00:21:09:27
Chris
Yeah, it is a very fun song. I put that song on this is this to me is the time of year when this song, like, really works for me, like spring.

00:21:10:24 - 00:21:14:28
Amanda
This works with the spring. I guess it's, it's a cake yet song.

00:21:15:03 - 00:21:22:12
Chris
That's a very bouncy song. It's just fun. And I had originally picked this song for you so there was a reason why I picked the song for you.

00:21:24:16 - 00:21:40:04
Chris
I just wanted to send you a promising song because I was like, Oh, man, it's from the Midwest. And so these guys are from the Midwest. But I also, because I liked the lyrics a lot and they reference a lot of like eighties stuff. And I know you're such a big eighties fan and I know some not all the eighties bands like they reference Husker.

00:21:40:04 - 00:21:52:01
Chris
Do I know you have no idea who Husker do is, but like, you know, they reference the cars and you know, it's just a really fun song about like making someone a mixtape with like all their favorite songs. And I thought that that would be really fun for you.

00:21:52:01 - 00:22:02:03
Amanda
Do you know? I said the words that I know you know this, but listeners I said the literal words came out of my mouth. I mean, what does the song even mean?

00:22:03:20 - 00:22:04:07
Speaker 3
Christmas, like.

00:22:04:08 - 00:22:07:00
Amanda
It literally means make me a mixtape every other.

00:22:07:11 - 00:22:12:09
Chris
Yeah, literally means make me a mixtape. Make me a mixtape so I can get closer to you.

00:22:12:10 - 00:22:14:22
Speaker 3
That's where we are. Yeah.

00:22:16:06 - 00:22:17:14
Amanda
Billy checking in?

00:22:17:25 - 00:22:33:00
Chris
Yeah, some more. Some more. Congratulations on our one year anniversary. Thank you. Billy Thorpe. Congratulations on your one year huge accomplishment. Well, thank you so much, Billy. That's such a huge supporter and fan of the show. And we appreciate all your all your help and love and support. So thank you, Billy.

00:22:33:18 - 00:22:46:24
Amanda
A great a great. Yes, so I'll just wrap up the Make Me a mixtape that it went down a little bit. Still good song. Still fun song. OK, I went a little crazy with my records a year ago.

00:22:47:22 - 00:23:04:10
Chris
Well, you were still trying to find your footing. I was when it was our first show and we were like literally five days before that. We're like, we're going to do a show, but we're just going to write songs on one, two, five record. That's the show. That's the show. That's the show. OK, that's the show. That's what we're doing.

00:23:04:24 - 00:23:06:15
Amanda
Who knew it would be successful?

00:23:08:03 - 00:23:17:06
Chris
Who knew all this success would come out of it? We did make it past year one. We're in. We're officially in year what we're going to be making the past year one. So that is the evolution of.

00:23:17:06 - 00:23:18:11
Amanda
Their absolutely.

00:23:18:17 - 00:23:30:16
Chris
No pod feed for the christening. Kristin, new show. All right. So I you know, I like that you're year out. This is why I want to revisit this because I think that Chuck and.

00:23:31:21 - 00:23:32:24
Amanda
I also Chuck Norris.

00:23:33:20 - 00:23:53:14
Chris
Well, definitely not Amanda, but it was a good chance I was Chuck's but but I like that this is exactly what to revisit. Does it hold up? Do the ratings hold up one year later and this song right out of the gate doesn't quite hold up as well as it did for you a year ago?

00:23:53:21 - 00:23:54:12
Amanda
Absolutely.

00:23:54:13 - 00:24:18:25
Chris
All right. OK, well, that's good. All right. So your first song to me one year ago today was Wailing Jennings Don't Think Twice Now. I had originally given this song I gave us four records. Don't think twice is all right. Sorry, I'd given it four records. And I remember doing a lot of really cool research on the song.

00:24:18:25 - 00:24:44:26
Chris
There was a ton of stuff. I know. I know who William Jennings. What is, was, is. But I was never like, oh, I didn't just put on Waylon Jennings records, you know? It was, like, definitely always had a great respect for the man and his music and what he contributed, but never really knew too much and that was when I found out through our research that he was a bass the bass player in the Crickets, Buddy Holly in the Crickets.

00:24:44:26 - 00:25:05:25
Chris
And I was supposed to get on the plane that night and that, but did it for me. Yeah. And, you know, the whole story of the whole lake, him and Buddy Holly busting each other's chops and you know, joking around. And, you know, I think he took he was like, I hope you're you said the effect of like the Buddy Holly, I hope your plane crash is all in total joking.

00:25:06:05 - 00:25:30:13
Chris
Not, you know. And so and that is something that I know in many, many interviews he's taken, you know, he blame, you know, very, very hard on himself at that time because it was a complete joke. And, you know, unfortunately, it actually happened so but did not know he was in the crickets like that was that was a huge, huge uncovering which I know you know a lot of listeners on this show of course it was the crickets like what's wrong with you, Chris?

00:25:30:13 - 00:26:00:14
Chris
But they know that. So anyway, this song was originally released in 1970 on A&M Records and it consists of a few singles and I'm really song so this was on don't think twice the record the title track for this was a Bob Dylan song originally. That was what we had been covered that Bob Dylan originally wrote the song and he did this song so I once again going back and re listening to this I had a Yeah, thank you Chuck.

00:26:00:14 - 00:26:23:28
Chris
Yep. Gave up a seat for JP Richardson. Yep. There you go. More music history for you. Unreal. The whole, whole course of music history changed right there. But this song, listen to the song again. I still really like the song. I do not like the Bob Dylan version. I know. That's like, oh my God. But I'm not a fan of like I think Bob Dylan is a great songwriter and I love covers.

00:26:24:14 - 00:26:25:10
Amanda
You're not the only one.

00:26:25:24 - 00:26:48:05
Chris
You know, I just and I get it. I respect Bob Dylan. He's a huge contribution to music as a whole. You know, and what he's done. I mean, Guy was basically an original punk rocker, if you ask me, but I'm just not a huge fan of his his style of singing, however great, great musician. Great songwriter. This is a great example of another good song that he was.

00:26:48:07 - 00:27:08:11
Chris
He he wrote and was covered by an outstanding artist. So listening back to this, I realized that I like the song much more now than I did then because I've had a year, you know, of like, wow, this is a really cool song. Has actually since then, Amanda Sharp it's come on a bunch of times in the places I hang out on the jukebox and I'm like, I know this song.

00:27:08:21 - 00:27:13:22
Chris
I know the song. Like how you were in the liquor store and heard Faster Pussycat Bathroom Wall.

00:27:14:03 - 00:27:14:17
Speaker 3
Of.

00:27:15:10 - 00:27:36:16
Chris
Yours. I know this song. That's how I feel when I hear this song. Come On and the in the bar jukebox. So I would say this this song for me has gone up for sure. Love it. And I would give it I give it a it's definitely gone up a bit. So I'm going to give it not quite a five, but I'm going to give it it's gone up a half a point for me.

00:27:36:16 - 00:27:48:26
Chris
So it's a fiver now. I like this song. This song is very good. It's really cool. And I got a really nice tone to it that I really enjoyed. So it has gone up. So is aged well for me.

00:27:49:20 - 00:27:51:07
Amanda
I'm so happy.

00:27:51:18 - 00:28:03:19
Chris
Yes. That's so. Ah ah ah ah ah. Commission fan Mr Fox did your fox. Good morning Mr Meatball. And Amanda. Well, thank you, sir. I appreciate it.

00:28:03:19 - 00:28:04:16
Amanda
Thank you, Mr Daniel.

00:28:04:25 - 00:28:11:29
Chris
That isn't that is the tender nickname that he calls me Mr Meatball. Yeah, yeah. My brother. Ah ah. The meatballs from New Jersey.

00:28:12:22 - 00:28:16:07
Speaker 3
I'm from New Jersey again.

00:28:16:18 - 00:28:18:13
Amanda
Takes me to a movie.

00:28:18:27 - 00:28:19:07
Speaker 3
Yeah.

00:28:21:16 - 00:28:23:11
Chris
Or Scott that's got.

00:28:25:08 - 00:28:25:15
Speaker 3
So.

00:28:25:15 - 00:28:28:06
Amanda
I like that it went up. That's amazing.

00:28:28:07 - 00:28:39:28
Chris
It did. It went up. Definitely not a skip song at all. Like this is actually let me turn this up a little bit. Slap. Ooh, so we have to we have to we have to get into that, too. That's a whole other listening.

00:28:40:16 - 00:28:43:06
Amanda
That's in the whole other, like, category of.

00:28:43:15 - 00:28:56:23
Chris
The volume up volume down, slight adjustment. That's a whole other thing we have to explore in one of our other episodes. The skip list. We're going to put out the official Chris Amanda chart or Guide.

00:28:57:16 - 00:28:57:29
Speaker 3
To.

00:28:58:18 - 00:29:03:18
Chris
The Skipping Guy and the volume guide that's coming.

00:29:03:27 - 00:29:08:17
Amanda
I mean, it sounds complicated, but it's so easy when you break it down, right?

00:29:10:08 - 00:29:22:12
Chris
Am I barely spacing me? Because I don't know if that's Mr. Fox. That's Mr. Fox, what he thinks about that. Johnny. So this is why you guys got a tune in life. This is what happens when when live happens. We have these conversations on the show.

00:29:23:03 - 00:29:45:00
Amanda
It's so fun. And if you're listening, I always recommend going to check out the video version because we put the comments on the screen so it makes a little bit more sense. It's it's so fun. To to have those that fun banter going on. All right, Chris, your number two son to me last year was some system by Operation AB Classic.

00:29:45:00 - 00:29:46:26
Chris
This is a this is an anthem.

00:29:47:10 - 00:30:05:04
Amanda
I was so confused by this name. For those who've watched the show, know that I really get stuck on names of bands and name of the song. So this one really threw me off because I go Operation Ivy. I always think of Poison Ivy, and that's uncomfortable. Is my mind goes all the places.

00:30:05:12 - 00:30:10:23
Speaker 3
You know, I still like I would never.

00:30:10:23 - 00:30:14:07
Chris
Think of that in a thousand years, but like, you go right there.

00:30:14:15 - 00:30:46:13
Amanda
I just my mind just goes these places so quickly. So I have to say when I listened to this, I immediately jumped into it had been a while since I listened to this particular song. Right. And I immediately, like, jumped into the balancing of it. Mm hmm. And I go, oh, my gosh, I, I have embraced this type of sound now that my body can naturally react to it the way it should Now, let's remember a man that's got one bounce move, and it's like shoulders way.

00:30:46:13 - 00:31:11:06
Amanda
So it's like a fast shoulders way damn thing. I wasn't thinking crazy or anything, but my body naturally knew what to do with this beat right quick. So I really I like this one even more than I did before. And so this one moved up. So I originally gave it three records. Again, this one moved up I'm giving it a 4.5.

00:31:11:10 - 00:31:13:15
Chris
Whoa, look at that.

00:31:17:15 - 00:31:22:06
Amanda
Clap and you heard.

00:31:25:11 - 00:31:32:24
Chris
Well, we could tighten that and wow, your handclaps take a lot of your hit clubs, make.

00:31:32:24 - 00:31:33:21
Speaker 3
Their whole clipper.

00:31:37:25 - 00:31:38:18
Amanda
Clap on.

00:31:39:23 - 00:31:42:06
Speaker 3
The ice.

00:31:43:11 - 00:31:45:18
Amanda
I want to have a jingle that's successful.

00:31:46:28 - 00:31:48:18
Chris
We have to write a jingle that's successful.

00:31:48:18 - 00:31:55:21
Amanda
We have to. Yeah. So I really like the song even more. I mean, a 1.5 increase. So I think.

00:31:55:21 - 00:31:56:11
Chris
That's a big.

00:31:56:14 - 00:32:06:20
Amanda
Yes, it really big. I got half the name of the song and the band going 4.5. I will definitely listen to this much more frequently now.

00:32:06:27 - 00:32:27:17
Chris
I am so happy to hear that because this song is such a great song. I mean, this is when it comes to Operation Ivy Song. Sound System is like a signature song for them. Unity is another big one. I love this band. Anybody who's a big fan of a punk rock knows the roots with this band and you know them becoming eventually rancid and all those other things.

00:32:27:17 - 00:32:52:02
Chris
And but Pop Ivy is, is they they were like the first of that punk and ska sound and, and just did it so well and just became so legend. Such an influential band. And this song, when we talk about summer songs, I mean, that's our see, this is a summer song, almost all scoffs, sounds very summers, but I believe he's got a special place in my heart.

00:32:52:22 - 00:32:55:00
Amanda
I that's right up, ivy.

00:32:55:00 - 00:32:55:23
Chris
Up, ivy.

00:32:55:27 - 00:32:57:18
Amanda
Up Ivy. Really.

00:32:57:29 - 00:33:00:12
Chris
That's it. That's how the cool kids say it. Amanda Kind.

00:33:00:12 - 00:33:01:09
Speaker 3
Of like the.

00:33:01:10 - 00:33:02:14
Amanda
Yellow and black attack.

00:33:02:23 - 00:33:08:14
Chris
Yellow and black attack straight. Well, I'm the only one who think straight was cool. I mean, like, five other people, like, that's about it.

00:33:08:25 - 00:33:12:16
Amanda
OK, it's OK. It doesn't take away that the yellow and black attack.

00:33:13:07 - 00:33:13:11
Speaker 3
The.

00:33:13:11 - 00:33:14:16
Chris
Yellow and black attack.

00:33:15:27 - 00:33:17:05
Amanda
So I like it. I like it.

00:33:17:09 - 00:33:46:14
Chris
Awesome. Good. I love I love to see that. I love to see that the ratings have increased for that song. So I've had an effect on you. Amanda Sharp, OK, so your your next song to me that you had set me was July by Noah Cyrus. And I had originally given this song three records. And listening back to this song again, I still think it's I think I was generally positive about the song, if I remember from the from the show.

00:33:46:24 - 00:34:10:16
Chris
And I still think it's a really I think it's a really sweet song. I think it's a it's a really just well-written song. I like the quality of the recording and like the quality of her voice pretty, pretty well still. So I feel like the song holds up for the most part. I listened to it a few times and I have since moved it to the Sunday morning playlist, by the way.

00:34:10:22 - 00:34:17:26
Chris
So it has made that transition. So I think it's a fine song. I don't think it's got up as far as a four record song for me.

00:34:18:11 - 00:34:18:24
Speaker 3
But I think.

00:34:18:24 - 00:34:31:13
Chris
It's moved up by at least a half a point. You know, I would be happy just because the fact that since listening to this initially on the show, it has moved over to a playlist, so I have to award points for that.

00:34:31:17 - 00:34:32:00
Amanda
I like.

00:34:32:00 - 00:34:38:12
Chris
That. I think I think that's I think that's very deserving because of it's now made a playlist. That means it's something I would like to continue listening.

00:34:38:12 - 00:34:39:14
Amanda
To and logic.

00:34:39:18 - 00:35:03:00
Chris
So I am going to award July by Noah Cyrus, a a point first will be 3.5 records at this point. So it's another record. It's another song that you've given me from the first show that's actually moved up a little bit. So I would because I think it's a really well-written song. I, I, when I go for records, I go, this is a song I'm going to really like.

00:35:03:00 - 00:35:20:16
Chris
I'm going to actively put on. I don't know if I would actively put this song on, but like I said, I like having it on a playlist, so it just comes on in, in the mix. Sure. You know what I'm saying? So it's one of those it's a great mix song for me. That's that's my logic. If you go very we could follow that train of logic.

00:35:20:22 - 00:35:22:25
Chris
That's another guide that we're going to publish as well.

00:35:26:27 - 00:35:29:15
Amanda
Could we charge for these logics? I don't know.

00:35:29:17 - 00:35:30:00
Speaker 3
I don't know.

00:35:30:12 - 00:35:31:08
Chris
Music therapy.

00:35:31:20 - 00:35:36:03
Speaker 3
But could we be a TED Talk? We could be in the.

00:35:36:03 - 00:35:41:15
Chris
Christening about a TED Talk coming to you somewhere soon. Coming to you live from a basement somewhere.

00:35:41:19 - 00:35:46:15
Amanda
People, it would be like at the end of Napoleon Dynamite after his dance. And everyone goes.

00:35:47:12 - 00:35:47:21
Speaker 3
Yeah.

00:35:48:13 - 00:35:50:03
Chris
It is. It would be exactly that.

00:35:50:10 - 00:35:53:02
Speaker 3
But then everyone claps, right? What's a.

00:35:53:02 - 00:36:00:27
Chris
Crystal? I made a deck, talked Ted, talked to music, reviewing it, listening, whatever. I don't know. We have to come up with a snappy name.

00:36:01:22 - 00:36:02:12
Amanda
Nothing.

00:36:02:18 - 00:36:03:16
Speaker 3
Yeah, OK.

00:36:03:27 - 00:36:05:24
Amanda
Here's our snappy name. That's all we say.

00:36:05:26 - 00:36:07:10
Chris
Here's our snappy name. Yeah, that's.

00:36:07:10 - 00:36:07:14
Speaker 3
It.

00:36:08:10 - 00:36:26:29
Chris
So you have this. So, Noah Cyrus July has moved half a point for me. Yes, and it's a sweet song. I mean, I don't really know any other Noah Cyrus stuff. I haven't. Honestly, I didn't go and explore any more of the Noah Cyrus Pantheon of songs, the catalog of of Noah Cyrus songs. But this song is cool.

00:36:28:06 - 00:36:32:28
Amanda
I it I'm I like the increase, and I like that it's on your playlist. That got.

00:36:32:28 - 00:36:35:28
Chris
Some revived. It's called July. So I like that makes.

00:36:35:28 - 00:36:44:00
Amanda
Me feel like here in the States where at least Kris and I are, we're finally entering like warm weather lane who finally.

00:36:45:18 - 00:36:57:23
Chris
Dan Fox check in with Dan Fox if everybody remembers is the one who commissioned the the black metal show the extreme metal thrash metal show and he's saying here Cyndi Lauper is going to be on my next show.

00:36:57:27 - 00:36:58:08
Speaker 3
Yes.

00:36:58:08 - 00:37:02:27
Amanda
So welcome come on over Sandy.

00:37:03:19 - 00:37:15:05
Chris
Yes. And and there's also another good time to just plug something else that we're doing here on the show while we're before we move into the other half of what we're doing. But we have a new phone number now. Did you know that Amanda Sharpe?

00:37:15:16 - 00:37:18:16
Amanda
I did you a couple of videos on it.

00:37:18:22 - 00:37:37:02
Chris
I know we're just off the put together, but we have a new number, so you can give us a call if you want to leave a message or say hello or disagree with any of our reviews, you have a chance to leave a voicemail and we'll play it on the show. We will play it. So all you have to do is hit.

00:37:53:04 - 00:37:53:16
Amanda
Number.

00:37:53:20 - 00:37:54:23
Chris
The Salamander.

00:37:54:27 - 00:37:55:07
Speaker 3
Palace.

00:37:55:07 - 00:37:55:19
Amanda
For a good.

00:37:55:19 - 00:37:57:16
Chris
Time. Call us for a good time.

00:38:00:15 - 00:38:13:12
Amanda
I'm excited to have that number. I'm excited for people to leave messages that we can play on the air because I think it will be it's going to be hopefully these comments. But, you know, pumped up even more. Yes. It'll be really, really phenomenal.

00:38:13:15 - 00:38:14:09
Chris
Absolutely.

00:38:15:06 - 00:38:26:02
Amanda
Chuck stating, I really like his comment that he just left make out what in the double hockey sticks was I thinking play list. That's fantastic.

00:38:26:03 - 00:38:28:24
Chris
That's a great that's a great idea, Chuck. I like that.

00:38:29:00 - 00:38:31:23
Amanda
What's one more a man show playlist now?

00:38:31:23 - 00:38:34:05
Chris
Yeah, we are. We are all over Spotify.

00:38:34:07 - 00:38:36:17
Amanda
What's one more playlist between friends? No big deal.

00:38:36:21 - 00:38:38:22
Chris
No big deal, no big deal.

00:38:38:24 - 00:38:39:24
Amanda
Good recommendation.

00:38:39:24 - 00:38:41:25
Chris
Make me a mixtape. Amanda Sharpe's.

00:38:42:15 - 00:38:43:01
Speaker 3
Jealous.

00:38:44:20 - 00:38:51:00
Amanda
So good, so good. All right. So moving on to your third song to me from one year ago, prophetically. Oh.

00:38:51:20 - 00:38:53:13
Speaker 3
Yes, Sharon.

00:38:53:20 - 00:38:54:12
Chris
Rose I'm sure.

00:38:56:01 - 00:38:56:12
Speaker 3
By.

00:38:56:15 - 00:38:58:01
Amanda
Killswitch Engage.

00:38:59:07 - 00:39:10:02
Chris
All right. I went I went heavy. This first show like I'm giving you. It's like I'm throwing a dagger and I'm going, see, if you catch the dagger this year, I'm going to throw it and you're going to catch it.

00:39:10:17 - 00:39:23:23
Amanda
OK, you know what? This song can make people feel my pain. When I had covered wow.

00:39:23:26 - 00:39:24:20
Chris
That's extreme.

00:39:26:07 - 00:39:27:16
Amanda
This is an extreme song.

00:39:28:07 - 00:39:28:15
Speaker 3
It's a.

00:39:28:15 - 00:39:37:12
Chris
Great song. And and as I and as I told you then that I will tell you now, this is a love song. Amanda Sharp. It is a love song.

00:39:38:22 - 00:39:39:27
Amanda
You keep saying that.

00:39:40:11 - 00:39:40:19
Speaker 3
And.

00:39:40:19 - 00:39:46:10
Chris
It is. If you did you read the lyrics? Have you read the lyrics? It is a love song.

00:39:46:21 - 00:39:48:03
Amanda
But when you hear them.

00:39:48:03 - 00:39:50:05
Speaker 3
Out loud with.

00:39:50:05 - 00:39:51:27
Amanda
His Cookie Monster voice.

00:39:52:07 - 00:39:54:19
Chris
Oh, Howard is such a phenomenal singer.

00:39:56:00 - 00:39:57:19
Speaker 3
I love this range.

00:39:57:19 - 00:40:01:03
Chris
Oh, so good. So good. Oh.

00:40:01:17 - 00:40:10:09
Amanda
It's just hard for my ears. So heart drew saying congrats. I'll lighten up the moment by that. Thank you so.

00:40:10:21 - 00:40:11:01
Speaker 3
Well.

00:40:12:12 - 00:40:36:10
Amanda
And you laughing at my description it really now. But with that being said, this is a song that I had thought we had never given any one record song in this show. I do believe this is the only one record looking back at our ratings that has been given at this point. I would like to take that back.

00:40:36:22 - 00:40:39:23
Amanda
OK, it is not a one record song.

00:40:40:00 - 00:40:40:15
Chris
OK.

00:40:40:26 - 00:40:46:24
Amanda
It is not but with that being said, I'm only lightly bumping it up to a two record size.

00:40:47:21 - 00:40:49:26
Speaker 3
But it's an increase nonetheless.

00:40:50:04 - 00:40:53:03
Chris
So yeah. Well, you lived through the black metal episode.

00:40:53:21 - 00:40:54:10
Amanda
I did.

00:40:54:17 - 00:41:00:09
Chris
And many other metal and metal core songs since then.

00:41:00:16 - 00:41:01:01
Amanda
Yes.

00:41:01:09 - 00:41:03:23
Chris
And this would be considered like metal core basically.

00:41:04:03 - 00:41:05:16
Speaker 3
It's it's.

00:41:06:01 - 00:41:12:15
Chris
Like I went right for it on this first and I was like, I'm going for it because Amanda Sharp needs to understand what she's signed up for.

00:41:13:11 - 00:41:21:02
Amanda
A punch in the gut that can be explained with a song. This is it. First, give me a punch in the gut from New Jersey.

00:41:23:03 - 00:41:24:15
Speaker 3
With with.

00:41:24:15 - 00:41:25:14
Chris
Killswitch Engage.

00:41:25:17 - 00:41:26:19
Speaker 3
With Killswitch.

00:41:26:19 - 00:41:47:28
Amanda
Engage. I think it was a it was a little rough. It still was a little rough. And there's something about the tone of this song. It truly triggers a headache in my brain. It I you guys can say that I'm making that up. It but it gives me a headache to listen to it to.

00:41:47:28 - 00:41:48:24
Chris
See trigger for you.

00:41:48:24 - 00:42:10:12
Amanda
Huh? It is a trigger for me. Instant like migraine material right there in. Wow. Yeah. So I'm going to give it two records just because I think one was unfair. And I really don't think we've really had any songs that should even our you know, sponsored episode that we did or commissioned episode. I didn't even give anyone done that.

00:42:11:11 - 00:42:18:08
Chris
Right. That's true. You gave no ones on that. I thought for sure. You were giving, like, behemoth of one.

00:42:19:09 - 00:42:19:26
Speaker 3
Short.

00:42:20:09 - 00:42:20:26
Amanda
Beowulf.

00:42:21:05 - 00:42:37:24
Chris
And writer's strike. Right. I thought those were all getting ones. I thought you were going to be like straight down ones and you were not. In fact, you gave I think you gave like the out that Alsace the Alsace Alsace which I remember. I think you gave that one like a for records.

00:42:37:24 - 00:42:39:04
Speaker 3
Yeah, it was so.

00:42:40:06 - 00:42:54:27
Amanda
During those two episodes or that that song with that episode I should say it was one record. Totally unfair. So I'm going with you, but it's still home. Listen. And I still struggled, but there's an increase yet. Small but in English.

00:42:55:09 - 00:42:55:18
Chris
Right.

00:42:56:01 - 00:43:01:09
Speaker 3
OK, all right. All right, OK. All right. Well.

00:43:01:21 - 00:43:08:04
Chris
I'll take your increase. I killswitch engage Rosie. Sharon, still a great love song by all all stretch.

00:43:08:16 - 00:43:22:06
Amanda
You know what? If Marcus ever wants to serve me with a divorce, he just has to play this song, and I'll know what he's saying. There ain't nothing about this song that speaks love song to me, if you like, Amanda. So here you go.

00:43:23:04 - 00:43:25:23
Chris
And you read the lyrics. You still don't think it's a love song?

00:43:26:19 - 00:43:27:03
Speaker 3
No. I mean.

00:43:27:03 - 00:43:33:11
Amanda
I can see the lyrics are a love song. And if, like, Dolly Parton sing the lyrics, it would be like love song.

00:43:34:02 - 00:43:50:09
Chris
There's something for you. So, Dolly Parton, I know you're such a huge fan of the Chris and Amanda Show. So, you know, if you're listening and you want some good cover song it is definitely. If you would cover Rose of Sharon by Killswitch Engage the Dolly version, that would be that would be outstanding.

00:43:50:12 - 00:43:58:04
Amanda
Dolly, when you're not so busy giving millions of books away to the children of the United States of America, if you could just do this one favor for us, that would be great.

00:43:58:17 - 00:44:06:09
Chris
Know, we often come up with great ideas. This is one of them. The Dolly Parton cover version of Rose of Sharon by Killswitch Engage.

00:44:06:10 - 00:44:08:19
Amanda
So you would probably nail it.

00:44:08:23 - 00:44:13:06
Chris
We have put it out there in the universe. We have asked for it. I would love to hear.

00:44:13:06 - 00:44:13:27
Amanda
It if it.

00:44:13:27 - 00:44:15:20
Speaker 3
Happened. Oh, my gosh.

00:44:16:10 - 00:44:18:13
Chris
Well, we all know that she listens to the show very.

00:44:19:07 - 00:44:20:14
Amanda
Very regularly.

00:44:20:21 - 00:44:23:12
Chris
Obviously, she's a huge fan of the Kris and Amanda show.

00:44:23:12 - 00:44:23:25
Speaker 3
I mean.

00:44:24:17 - 00:44:26:21
Amanda
She made an appearance on our charts.

00:44:27:09 - 00:44:27:10
Speaker 3
A.

00:44:28:07 - 00:44:29:15
Amanda
Couple different times, though.

00:44:29:26 - 00:44:34:11
Chris
Yeah. She's made it to our playlists I mean, come on. That's like out for something.

00:44:34:13 - 00:44:35:16
Amanda
That's so official.

00:44:37:25 - 00:44:42:09
Chris
Oh, yeah. There you go. Josh, PA, I think Amanda should do a vocal cover of Rose Sherry.

00:44:43:01 - 00:44:55:20
Amanda
I think this is also what made me make you do that video. Of the version of Hello Darkness, my old friend. The one that I like that though, by. Who is it?

00:44:56:04 - 00:44:59:23
Chris
Oh, the the. Well, Simon Garfunkel. The original.

00:44:59:24 - 00:45:00:21
Amanda
The cover.

00:45:00:21 - 00:45:01:28
Chris
Version. This the disturbed.

00:45:02:03 - 00:45:05:28
Amanda
Yes. Yes, I think that's what I said. Hey, do this for me.

00:45:06:09 - 00:45:08:01
Speaker 3
Yeah, you can go back.

00:45:08:01 - 00:45:12:18
Amanda
To the beginning. Ever and you'll see some really interesting, fun, silly reels.

00:45:12:24 - 00:45:14:27
Chris
You'll see a lot of experimentation go. Right.

00:45:15:12 - 00:45:15:27
Speaker 3
Right.

00:45:17:01 - 00:45:27:26
Amanda
So I might. OK, Joshua, I feel like that's a challenge. Except in I think challenge accepted. So that means I have to listen to it a couple more times. Dang it.

00:45:29:09 - 00:45:31:08
Chris
You think so, Pops? Why be provocative?

00:45:31:25 - 00:45:37:27
Amanda
Yeah, I'll work on it. Josh, had a girl.

00:45:38:18 - 00:45:45:09
Chris
I'm sure Killswitch Engage is thrilled right now to understand that the statement you made at the top of that was if you want to know how I felt during COVID, listen.

00:45:46:17 - 00:45:47:14
Speaker 3
I think I'm.

00:45:47:14 - 00:45:48:11
Amanda
Going to get a sued.

00:45:50:00 - 00:45:57:07
Chris
What a ringing endorsement. If you want to do a covered feels like listen to this song. It's just I would go over to.

00:45:57:12 - 00:46:01:29
Amanda
Somebody who loves the song and maybe it'll make them feel warm and fuzzy. I don't know.

00:46:04:09 - 00:46:05:03
Chris
I've been.

00:46:05:09 - 00:46:07:02
Amanda
A headache for weeks, so it seems.

00:46:07:03 - 00:46:07:14
Speaker 3
Fitting.

00:46:10:11 - 00:46:25:04
Chris
All right. OK. All right. Here we go. Moving on. This is the last song of our that you sent me on our first show that we ever did. It was live on Fireside. And you gave me.

00:46:25:26 - 00:46:26:11
Amanda
I did.

00:46:26:17 - 00:46:27:17
Chris
The Bangles.

00:46:27:29 - 00:46:28:17
Speaker 3
I did.

00:46:28:25 - 00:46:29:29
Chris
Eternal Flame.

00:46:32:03 - 00:46:35:14
Chris
Now, I like the Bengals a lot.

00:46:35:21 - 00:46:37:01
Amanda
I know.

00:46:38:08 - 00:46:43:14
Chris
And I originally gave this song two records.

00:46:43:15 - 00:46:43:16
Speaker 3
A.

00:46:43:16 - 00:46:44:26
Amanda
Peace sign, Christi.

00:46:45:20 - 00:46:46:02
Speaker 3
Sign.

00:46:46:15 - 00:47:09:21
Chris
And it was really due to the fact that I feel like while this was a huge hit for the Bengals, I felt like it was it was off brand for the Bengals as far as music goes because I felt like that it was sort of like an attempt to like, you know, just sell out and do like the standard ballad that everybody else was doing at that time.

00:47:10:02 - 00:47:26:03
Chris
And it bugged me. And then re listening to that, it kind of triggered I'm going to use one of your words. It triggered me a little bit. OK, say, you know, all the Bengals songs you could have given me you gave me the one that's the one that I get like, oh, what a bunch of sellouts. They sold out.

00:47:26:05 - 00:47:29:19
Chris
Now, that was you triggered the punk rock inside of me.

00:47:31:22 - 00:47:53:02
Chris
I'm going to say this, though, as far as a pop song goes, it is a really well-written song and it is a very good pop song. I love Hall's vocals on this everybody. I mean, it is a very good song. It's very well written. It's not necessary. Like I said, it's still not one of my favorite Bengals songs, though.

00:47:53:03 - 00:48:16:16
Chris
Like like even over the weekend, you know, like we were doing karaoke and my wife ripped hazy shade of winter, and I'm like that. I love that. That's a great song, you know, Manic Monday, even though Prince wrote it, it's a great song, you know, even walk like Egyptians, like even that's a that's a corny song, but like, it's fun you know, The Eternal Flame is like the ballad.

00:48:16:16 - 00:48:40:06
Chris
So I'm going to I don't know if I went through some of these facts when we talked on the show originally, I listened to it again, but I couldn't remember. So here's just some quick facts about Eternal Flame before we wrap this up. So this was an interview with the co-writer of the song Billy Steinberg, because it was written with Susanna Hoffs, wrote it, and it was with Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly.

00:48:40:27 - 00:49:02:08
Chris
So from Songfacts dot com, Billy Steinberg was playing Tom and I had met Susanna Hoffs, and we set out to write several songs for next recording. When we got together with Susanna, she admired a song that Tom and I had written for Cyndi Lauper called Unconditional Love. I think she liked the song because it was highly melodic and resembled a ballad that would not have been out of place on the Beatles Revolver record.

00:49:03:00 - 00:49:27:13
Chris
She was sort of envious of that song. She said she wished she wished we could come up with something as good as that song. I told her, Susanna, we're going to write something better. Than that song. So they had written many hit songs. Steinberg and Kelly had another hit songs like Like a Virgin for Madonna Alone. For Heart From Heart I Touched Myself for the Divinyls, and they also wrote another Bangles hit In Your Room.

00:49:28:24 - 00:49:41:26
Chris
So that was that was how the song sort of came about. Now, I have listened to this song again, I mean, I hear it all the time.

00:49:41:26 - 00:49:42:14
Amanda
I mean.

00:49:42:15 - 00:49:47:26
Chris
Obviously it's I mean, this is when we talk about songs that are played in Target, this is one of 2% on the Target playlist.

00:49:47:29 - 00:49:49:16
Amanda
And you should see me when it comes.

00:49:49:16 - 00:49:59:27
Chris
Out right Gary, I want to be behind you when this comes on. Just be like being like, I mean, look around like you're totally belting it out and Target, aren't you?

00:50:00:00 - 00:50:11:27
Amanda
Imagine Amanda which on a target cart because they're the best gliding targets in the globe. Happy tonight and just going for a spin like that at the end of the world when the sun comes on in target.

00:50:12:04 - 00:50:31:22
Chris
Yes. And by the way, Target, if you're listening because I also know the executives at Target are huge fans of the curse. And I mean, this show if you ever need us to curate a playlist for Target, we're happy to do it because a man and I are dialed in when it comes around like we know we know what people want to hear inside of Target and it's fine and you do a good job.

00:50:31:22 - 00:50:35:12
Chris
There are some really great songs, but if you want to kick it up a notch.

00:50:35:20 - 00:50:36:11
Amanda
Absolutely.

00:50:36:11 - 00:50:41:04
Chris
You come to a man and I and we will, we will, we will take it to the next level for you. It's just.

00:50:41:15 - 00:50:41:27
Amanda
A great.

00:50:42:08 - 00:50:42:18
Chris
Car.

00:50:43:01 - 00:50:45:24
Amanda
Great experience. Be out of the car target.

00:50:46:05 - 00:51:14:06
Chris
That's right. That's right. It'll be a fully immersed, the biggest just saying. All right. So, so bangles, the eternal flame. So were you listening to this song? I will admit. OK, I was a little harsh in my my to record rating. It's still not my favorite Bangles song. You know, that being said, it's like I said, it's a very well-written song.

00:51:14:06 - 00:51:37:02
Chris
It is a very good pop song, just not my favorite Bengals song. So, you know, I got it. I got to go with my gut on this. So I'm going to bump it up a whole other record. OK, so it's going to go three records. It's still not a go G Bangles song for me. It's not even if I if I made a list of a playlist of my favorite Bengals songs.

00:51:37:06 - 00:51:56:26
Chris
It is not on the playlist. It just isn't is it a great song? Yes. Is it well written? Yes. But for me as a fan, I'm not like Down with it, but I can't deny that it's a very well-written tune so for that, out of respect to the song and she's in a horse, you know, she's just so awesome.

00:51:56:26 - 00:52:10:04
Chris
I mean, come on. I mean, let's just get to see, you know, her voice is unreal. So she still sounds great on this song. I mean, it's so there's that. So and maybe I'm still being too harsh, but I'm going to give it three records. I feel like it's middle of the road. It's middle of the road.

00:52:10:12 - 00:52:33:28
Amanda
I think you're analyzing the entire package of this song, and I think branding is very important to you, and that is part of your job. I don't know OK. I don't want to call you a branding specialist, but that is your lane. So I mean, to have something be off brand, it sets differently for you. And I can respect that, but I do welcome that three record reading.

00:52:34:24 - 00:52:38:05
Chris
You are welcome for the for free for the.

00:52:39:05 - 00:52:39:18
Amanda
Evening.

00:52:41:26 - 00:53:02:11
Chris
Yeah. I mean, it's it's I like I said, I think the song is it's a great pop song. It really is. It's a great ballad. Great pop song. And I think that, you know, it's deserving for me. I mean, I'm sure other people might put it as a four or five like you, but it just, you know, as far as a Bangles song.

00:53:02:12 - 00:53:02:21
Speaker 3
Totally.

00:53:02:25 - 00:53:06:23
Chris
You know, there's so many other better songs for me from the Bengals.

00:53:07:22 - 00:53:11:07
Amanda
It's OK. I am so content that it went up two or three.

00:53:11:12 - 00:53:14:16
Chris
But I will show up, but I'm going to show some respect because it deserves respect.

00:53:14:21 - 00:53:16:19
Amanda
I like that. I like that respect.

00:53:17:10 - 00:53:21:26
Chris
I mean, I think it's started let's just let me check the charts on the song really quick.

00:53:22:15 - 00:53:26:24
Amanda
The Bengals are lucky. Chris is Chris was not charting at that time.

00:53:27:16 - 00:53:31:18
Chris
That's right. Where did it chart let me see.

00:53:31:18 - 00:53:31:26
Amanda
I.

00:53:32:04 - 00:53:32:11
Speaker 3
Yeah.

00:53:33:04 - 00:53:37:10
Amanda
I probably everywhere called the charts a clef across the way.

00:53:37:10 - 00:53:58:09
Chris
I just want to see like where it actually wound up on oh, here we go. See I do. This goes to show like I'm going to I'm talking I feel like I'm tired. Both sides are enough, but it really will show, like, how well written the song is. But I'm just as a fan. But the song became a number one hit in nine countries.

00:53:59:00 - 00:54:25:06
Chris
Yes. Including Australia. Sweden, the UK and the United States. Since its release, it's been covered by many musicians, including Australian boy band U. Human Nature for Australian fans. I apologize. I have no idea who human nature is, but it reached number ten with their version and a British girl duo Atomic Kitten that who I that I know them who topped with four national charts of their rendition.

00:54:26:15 - 00:54:27:15
Amanda
Very interesting.

00:54:28:00 - 00:54:46:25
Chris
Here we go. Chuck Taylor should be should be a five based on the hotness of sit ups alone. You know, let's see now you're getting into a whole different scale there, Chuck. So I have to separate it. I gotta I got to do it because otherwise it would just be you know, I got to just go on the song and it's tough because I agree.

00:54:46:25 - 00:54:58:23
Chris
I am I love two often, you know, as I was talking about before, she now is a tick tock account. I'll tell you go. So for all all the listeners. Oh, she's in a tick tock is cow is going to blow up right now.

00:54:59:02 - 00:54:59:12
Speaker 3
Blow.

00:54:59:12 - 00:55:09:21
Chris
Up is going to blow up what she does see oh she did an acoustic version of manic Monday on her Tick-Tock account it was extraordinaire. You got me good so worth it I hope she does more of.

00:55:09:21 - 00:55:14:24
Amanda
That that's going to be like my first pit stop after we're done recording is go to follow her and.

00:55:14:24 - 00:55:22:28
Chris
I actually hope she does an acoustic version of this. I think I would love to just hear her version of this, just her without all the other schmaltzy production stuff.

00:55:23:17 - 00:55:31:04
Amanda
Do you know what I think so. So Chuck is very cool. We've said this all the time that he is so much cooler than we are three new followers.

00:55:31:04 - 00:55:32:21
Chris
At least Chuck is very cool.

00:55:32:27 - 00:55:42:18
Amanda
He's so cool. He's very cool, very much cooler than us. And it even shows because he's listening live on Twitch, if that doesn't like show touch, like coolness.

00:55:43:03 - 00:55:43:08
Speaker 3
I don't.

00:55:43:08 - 00:55:43:25
Amanda
Know what does.

00:55:43:25 - 00:55:45:25
Chris
While he's on the air doing his show.

00:55:46:10 - 00:55:46:27
Speaker 3
There.

00:55:49:12 - 00:55:50:27
Amanda
It's just so impressive, Chuck.

00:55:51:04 - 00:55:51:27
Chris
Very impressive.

00:55:52:20 - 00:56:11:24
Amanda
I, I like that. So I like that it increased. And you nailed it though. Like you said, it's a great well-written song for like a love built that built like a hit all the checkboxes. And that's why it turned it. What way? But the branding is important and that's why it's a three record for you. It's OK.

00:56:12:11 - 00:56:12:28
Speaker 3
It's OK.

00:56:12:29 - 00:56:22:28
Chris
It's a three. But it did bump ups. Also, looking back on reviews, we had some changes. Nothing stayed the same. I don't think anything stayed the same.

00:56:23:12 - 00:56:25:25
Amanda
I think you're you're 1000% right.

00:56:25:25 - 00:56:59:01
Chris
I think going back and looking at our first episode of all these songs, we had different levels. I think for me, I increased all mine and then because they did I mean, honestly, I really did. You know what I was saying about all these songs, like going back and re listening to them and, you know, having had more time with them and some of the playlists, like it's definitely I'm like, you know, what has to count for something has to because prior to that, I was like kind of reacting off the first time, hearing it now as it's aged for me, it's like they've gone up in, in ratings for me.

00:56:59:14 - 00:57:07:14
Amanda
I and if we can single handedly like help, like bump something chart again, could you imagine the power of our show when we get really big?

00:57:07:14 - 00:57:11:01
Chris
Kris the power of the Kris and Amanda show?

00:57:11:07 - 00:57:21:09
Amanda
I, I mean, if Rosenschein Ryan starts charting again because I referenced it similar folded, I mean, you're welcome.

00:57:21:16 - 00:57:26:05
Chris
Killswitch or if Dolly Parton does that cover of of rose of Charlotte.

00:57:27:01 - 00:57:30:03
Amanda
Or the cover myself is going to do.

00:57:31:11 - 00:57:33:09
Chris
The Amanda sharp cover of rose of Sharon.

00:57:33:10 - 00:57:38:07
Amanda
I know Dolly but I've been known to karaoke time to.

00:57:38:18 - 00:57:38:26
Speaker 3
Write.

00:57:40:03 - 00:57:49:08
Amanda
One day after the last time I karaoke to why I never went back into that who it's a whole and involves a police officer.

00:57:50:13 - 00:57:53:18
Chris
Oh that's a story for another day what is.

00:57:53:18 - 00:57:55:07
Amanda
A story for another day for Tanger.

00:57:55:07 - 00:57:55:25
Chris
Everybody.

00:57:55:28 - 00:57:58:01
Speaker 3
OK who who.

00:58:00:10 - 00:58:03:20
Chris
Wow. I'm anxious to hear that story.

00:58:05:26 - 00:58:07:14
Amanda
Cliffhanger for sure.

00:58:07:24 - 00:58:08:15
Speaker 3
Well, then I.

00:58:08:15 - 00:58:12:09
Amanda
Would write our very first episode, a five record show.

00:58:13:01 - 00:58:30:14
Chris
Yes, I would agree with that. Our very first episode was definitely going back and listening to that was was really fun is, you know, it's what's so cool about recording. This is, you know, I don't listen in the very beginning. I listen to a lot of our shows. I don't go back and listen to everything all the way through.

00:58:30:27 - 00:58:42:04
Chris
But it was like really fun the way go back like one year ago and we listen to that whole episode and like here like how we did things and how we talked about in the banter. And it was I was entertained by us.

00:58:43:11 - 00:58:44:10
Amanda
We often are.

00:58:44:14 - 00:58:44:23
Speaker 3
Yes.

00:58:45:16 - 00:58:48:14
Chris
As we often are. But I was even more entertained by us this time.

00:58:48:14 - 00:59:01:21
Amanda
Around, you know, so think about this. We're dead and gone. YouTube obviously will still exist. Our potential grandbabies or our fellow family will have so much content that even they won't want to watch all of it about us.

00:59:02:07 - 00:59:02:15
Speaker 3
Right.

00:59:02:28 - 00:59:04:21
Chris
What a legacy. We're leaving behind.

00:59:05:10 - 00:59:05:16
Speaker 3
For.

00:59:05:16 - 00:59:06:14
Chris
Our for our children.

00:59:06:14 - 00:59:10:17
Amanda
Grandpa, Grandma. Two episodes would have been plenty.

00:59:10:26 - 00:59:11:05
Speaker 3
Yeah.

00:59:11:25 - 00:59:16:08
Chris
A whole year's worth. Well, you guys did this more than one year or two.

00:59:16:16 - 00:59:18:01
Speaker 3
We live. Come on.

00:59:21:16 - 00:59:32:19
Chris
So funny. So, so funny. You're. Well, you're welcome. Future ancestors of Chris many years into the future.

00:59:32:23 - 00:59:35:03
Amanda
Absolutely. Yeah, that's that's fun.

00:59:35:08 - 00:59:36:11
Speaker 3
But what what a episode.

00:59:36:11 - 00:59:48:27
Amanda
This was super fun to reminisce. And this was and I'm grateful for all of our listeners that tune in like today because that was super fun. And Chris, can you do all of the housekeeping that you do so well?

00:59:48:27 - 00:59:51:07

Happen.

01:04:01:18 - 01:04:20:11
Amanda
It could happen. And I just want to say, all of our ways to support the show are very, very affordable. So if you want to even sponsor our show, send us a message. If we're willing to work with our potential sponsors, too, because there's other ways that money isn't the only way that we can do a wonderful collaboration together.

01:04:20:11 - 01:04:23:29
Amanda
So don't be afraid to send us a message and see what we can come up with together.
